Speech: Responsibilities of Youth

Respected President, Honorable teachers and students.  Aslam O alikum

Before start counting and elaborating the responsibilities of youth, it is better to elaborate what does the word “youth” mean and what are the challenges they are facing in this age of globalization.

Sir

First of all it must be crystal clear to everyone that youth does not mean only young boys but rather girls are also part of youth. So when we talk about responsibilities of youth then we must keep in mind both these genders.  Secondly youth is the time period of life when boys and girls are mostly busy in their studies. Boys and girls in this period of their life are mostly dependent but eager to do something great in their lives. However at the same time they are exposed to the challenges of 21st century. Therefore we must keep in minds all these factors while placing the burden of responsibilities on their shoulders.

Respected Sir

In my opinion the first responsibility of the youth is to raise questions about the curtain raiser of unwanted limits of our society. One might think that I am talking about rebellion against culture and religion but the fact is that our scholars and poets had raised voice against this wall of ignorance and felt the need for reformation.

Respected Audience

Gender discrimination has become part of our society. Women and especially young girls are harassed and targeted in our society.  It is the responsibility of the youth to stand against this social evil. Girls are part of this society and they also have the right of free will. Isn’t this environment suffocating for them? We have deprived them of their due rights. Should the young people follow the path of ignorant people? Should we keep the women like captives? Of course not. Youth will have to come out for the rights of girls. Educated women can change the fate of a nation.

Dear Students

Our parents are trying their best to provide us with an environment where we feel free to gain the wealth of Knowledge. We are obliged to exploit this opportunity. But it is also our right that our parents, teachers and the elites of our society should plan for the eradication of unfair means and corruption in the examination system. This system is not evaluating the true potential of the students. That’s why even the topers are not able to pass the entry tests of professional colleges and NTS tests.

Respected Sir

It is true that youth is not properly fulfilling their responsibilities but the question is whether our parents have fulfilled their duties. Education is meant for Character building. ”.  But the fact is “are we really interested in character building?” . Have you noticed that our parents only wish to see our good grades? How many of our parents have stopped their children not to use unfair means in examinations? How many of our parents have denied meeting the invigilating staff during board examinations?

Respected Sir, the question is how many of our parents send their children to school for moral guidance and character building? Parents do not want their children to be morally corrupt but they will ignore lying, stealing and cheating as long as the child receives high grades in school. They believe that high grades lead to an opportunity to get admission in good universities that might guarantee their prosperous life.

is also very interesting that whenever society is failed to accomplish its goals then the burden is towards the youth. Youth is ready for any challenge but the challenge is whether we trust in our youth. Do we trust both the genders?

Dear Students

Whatever the case may be, the fact is that we will have to shoulder the responsibility to change ourselves and the world around us. Otherwise they are justified to say
